Would like to get some opinions or knowledge on whether Google is
penalizes or ignores a web page with site content that comes directly
from being part of an affiliate program?
So, for example, if I display product descriptions and reviews for a
particular product from Amazon's website on my site which links to a
shopping cart and then to Amazon's checkout system, will Google view
this as a big negative? Come to think of it, they may believe that I'm
stealing the content, because they go to a shopping cart first and not
a direct affiliate link to the product on Amazon's page.
Does this devalue my website or do they recognize its part of an
affiliate relationship? I realize that I must have some unique content
on the site, but as an Amazon affiliate, they are giving me the right
to use their content...much of which they are already ranked on.
I'd say providing Amazons's descriptions could be a problem. In my
opinion to be successful as an affiliate these day you've got to
provide some unique content that is of value to users. Otherwise, I
think you might be seen as a "Thin Affiliate" by engines. Then there
is also the duplicate content issue which may not result in a penalty
as you aren't amazon but rather result in your site being filtered.
Can't think of an "Official" word on this though, maybe someone else
can provide more info?
