Subject: amd motherboards and ahci

I have 1 amd motherboard with 1 sata hdd and 1 sata cdrom
I cannot access the hard disk drives.
It seems to be related to the ahci/raid/native  ide settings
and possibly the mbr

I do not want to use ahci but the gigabyte website
for this motherboard ma785gm-us2h only lists the ahci sata driver
for windows xp. Is this the same as a sata driver.
I slipstreamed it into windows xp sp3 but still it would not
access the hdd.

I have another very amd board with a similar problem.
This time it is a ide hdd and a sata cdrom
If I change the ahci/raid/ide setting the hdd is not visible.

The hdd was previously connected to an intel board.
It boots but will only boot into windows for 1 sec and reboot again.
How can I install chipset drivers to a hdd which is not bootable.

thanks
Sachmo

If this is a HP computer and/or a new install of SP3 I seem to
remember boot issues with AMD based machines. I'm not sure if this is
the problem you're having, or HDD is just not visible.
