Question about Epson Stylus 880 and CIS

Question for the experts. I have an Epson Stylys 880 (Circa 2001) just opened for the first time. I happenned to buy a CIS for it (This printer uses the older non chipped cartridges) My question is this: Can I just use the CIS ink reservoir flat out or do I need to indoctrinate the printer with regular cartridges first before using the CIS.... more »

Canon cartridges with plastic prongs for the chip?

Hello all, I know that recently third party cartridges for Canon (CLI-8 / PGI-5) *with chip* have been put on the market, however they cost double compared to the chipless ones. Chipless ones would be fine for me if they had two plastic prongs where the chip can be inserted, so that it stays there WITHOUT using the glue!... more »

Well, I unboxed my shiny new $22 Lexmark Z1300 Friday night and eagerly ripped my pair of "compatible" cartridges from InkStop out of their packages-Jiminy Christmas, *why* do they make those things so damned hard to open?-and was quickly greeted by a pair of "invalid" messages when I stuck the cartriges in and fired everything up. Refill methods, Brother

I have here a refill kit and some empty Brother LC51 cartridges, so might as well try to refill them: but I do not see where to start, e.g. see no likely insertion point on the shell (and can feel none under paper labels.)
