Brian's right. I'd forgotten that Coby is where Donal captures Ardell
Montor (William of Ceta's "social technician"), but _Dorsai!_ doesn't
show us the mines or the miners.

Utterly incoherent movie. Even Sarah Michelle Gellar playing a porn star
didn't make it watchable. And the Cow subtitles mooie version is even
worse.

Spielberg did a better a job of that. Perhaps it helped to actually
acknowledge the original source material.

You can find them on Google Groups, if you like. Just search for me
as author and "Child Cycle" in the title.
It's mentioned numerous places as "the mining world of Coby", but _The
Final Encyclopedia_ is the only story set there.
I like it, but it's all original.

I love Life, but I have to say it helped that in one scene Haiduk was
in her underwear getting fit for a wire, which the fully clothed Shahi
was helping her do.
I remember that scene as much for that fact that I felt embarrassed
watching it in the library as for the obvious reasons.

Coby was featured in the book Dorsai! as well. There wasn't a great
deal of description of the people or anything.

I'm told that Tagamet in sufficient doses will work, and I think it
may be available without
a prescription. Plus, you can change your mind. Which the
gynecomastia might make you want to do.
Alcohol in excess (real excess) also works, but probably does more
damage than Tagamet.

I was away on vacation, and may have missed one or two of your
essays. Tell me, is this the only place where Coby appears in the
Childe Cycle books?
I ask because there is an excellent filk ballad about two miners
from Coby who, after some quick-thinking in battle, become adopted by
the Dorsai. I was wondering whether it was based on one of Dickson's

That's definitely something I don't mind. I do too, as it's exciting.
However, I expect the main story to start with a scene change... we'll
be left hanging a little longer about the suspenseful things that
ended Volume 8.

One finds oneself getting bored with overblown description that didn't
really move the story along that much.
I do own this, and I did finish it. It just wasn't that much of a fun
experience I fear.

It was great. Starr's just wrong in this, but that's all
right; everybody's wrong about some things.
Can the Marshak and Culbreath books be called novels? They
seemed to me a lot more like enormous piles of words where the only
stuff that parsed was weird and disturbing.
